MOTCRANE supplied a Japanese customer with a 3 ton adjustable aluminum gantry crane and a custom 3-ton lifting jig for unloading precision instruments from trucks. The equipment was delivered to Yokohama, Japan.
The customer wanted a crane that could be assembled on site by a small team and pass through a doorway approximately 3.2 m high. For this reason, the crane was designed with an aluminum structure, adjustable height, manual winches on both sides, and braked casters. The gantry crane and lifting jig were manufactured according to drawings approved by the customer and supplied under the same order.
The crane is mainly used to unload precision instruments from a truck and place them onto a hand cart for transport to the final location. It does not need to move frequently between workstations, but it must be easy to assemble, position, and use in both indoor and outdoor loading areas.
One of the main reasons the customer selected aluminum instead of the steel mobile gantry crane option considered during the project was easier installation. The aluminum structure can be assembled by approximately two to three people without requiring an additional small crane or lifting device.
The customer also needed the gantry to pass through a doorway approximately 3.2 m high, so a fixed-height structure was not suitable.
In addition to the crane, the customer required a custom 3-ton lifting jig. The jig connects to the designated lifting points on the precision instrument through hooks, so the crane and lifting jig had to be checked together as one lifting system.
Before production, the customer carefully reviewed the load-bearing components. Both parties confirmed the main structural dimensions, material thicknesses, gantry height, lifting jig, and connection details through the project drawings.

Based on the customer’s application and site conditions, MOTCRANE supplied the 3-ton aluminum gantry crane and custom lifting jig as one complete lifting package rather than as separate standard products.
The crane has a span of 2.6 m and a main girder length of 3.5 m. The clear height below the main girder can be adjusted from 3 m to 5 m. Manual winches are installed on both sides for synchronized height adjustment, with a total adjustment range of 2 m. Height adjustment is carried out only when the crane is unloaded.
The crane is fitted with 8-inch braked casters and can be manually repositioned when unloaded.
The adjustable-height design serves two purposes. The crane can be raised to provide the required clearance for unloading the instruments from trucks, and lowered when it needs to pass through the 3.2 m-high doorway or be repositioned.
The hoisting system consists of a KITO chain hoist and a manual trolley. Because the customer paid close attention to structural safety and load capacity, MOTCRANE marked the dimensions, materials, and thicknesses of the main structural components on the drawings for detailed review.
Separate approval drawings were prepared for the gantry crane and lifting jig. Both drawings were approved on July 3, 2026, and production started only after the customer confirmed the final design.
The final scope of supply included:
| Item | Specification |
| Quantity | 1 gantry crane + 1 custom lifting jig |
| Rated Capacity | 3 tons |
| Crane Type | Adjustable aluminum gantry crane |
| Application | Loading and unloading precision instruments from trucks |
| Span | 2.6 m |
| Main Girder Length | 3.5 m |
| Clear Height Under Girder | 3–5 m |
| Height Adjustment Range | 2 m |
| Height Adjustment | Manual winches on both sides; unloaded adjustment only |
| Mobility | Manually repositioned when unloaded |
| Casters | 8-inch braked casters |
| Hoist | KITO chain hoist |
| Project Location | Yokohama, Japan |
| Trade Term | DAP Yokohama / Tarumachi |
| Unloading | UNIC truck |
| Delivery Time | Within 30 days after order placement |
The technical review process lasted more than one month. In addition to the overall lifting capacity, the customer checked the dimensions and material thicknesses of the main load-bearing components, the gantry height, and the connection between the crane and lifting jig.
After the final drawings were approved, the customer placed the order and production began. During manufacturing, MOTCRANE provided progress updates, including photos of material preparation, crane assembly and factory testing, and final packing.
The equipment was delivered under DAP Yokohama terms, with a UNIC truck arranged for unloading on arrival. The customer completed acceptance within five days, including a visual inspection, verification against the approved drawings, and initial operation after assembly.
Why Confirm the GA Drawing Before Manufacturing a 3 Ton Adjustable Aluminum Gantry Crane?
For an adjustable aluminum gantry crane supplied with a custom lifting jig, rated capacity alone is not enough to define the final design. The span, main girder length, minimum and maximum clear height, leg dimensions, caster positions, hoist clearance, and lifting-jig connections can all affect whether the crane will work properly on site.
In this project, the crane had to provide sufficient height for unloading precision instruments from trucks while also being able to pass through a 3.2 m-high doorway and work with the custom 3-ton lifting jig. Confirming these dimensions and interfaces before production helped turn the customer’s site requirements into clear manufacturing dimensions and reduced the risk of modifications after delivery.
If you are selecting an aluminum gantry crane for equipment installation, maintenance, or temporary loading and unloading, provide the required capacity, span, lifting height, doorway or access dimensions, movement requirements, and the size and weight of the load. If a custom lifting attachment is also required, provide the lifting-point positions or equipment drawings so the crane and lifting system can be designed together.
