Telescopic Boom Crane, based on a pedestal slewing design with hydraulic cylinder luffing, are characterized by their low weight and reduced complexity, making them remarkably maintenance-friendly. The boom extension features a telescopic inner section that enables a more flexible and wider operational radius while allowing the crane to be stored in a compact position. The cranes’ lightweight construction and simplified design further enhance their maintenance efficiency. These cranes are currently in operation on fish farming vessels and larger service vessels.
The telescopic boom crane consists of multiple nested boom sections constructed from high-strength alloy steel to ensure sufficient strength and corrosion resistance. Special anti-corrosion treatments, such as hot-dip galvanizing or marine-specific anti-corrosion coatings, are applied to the surface to withstand seawater and salt fog erosion.
The telescoping mechanism is primarily hydraulically driven, with the extension and retraction of the boom sections controlled by multiple hydraulic cylinders. The hydraulic system provides powerful and stable power, enabling precise extension and retraction under various working conditions.
The base serves as the connecting component between the crane and the ship’s deck. It is typically fixed to the deck via welding or bolted connections. Shock-absorbing pads or devices are installed between the base and the deck to mitigate vibrations. For some large marine telescopic boom cranes, the base is reinforced and connected to major structural components such as the ship’s keel to accommodate higher lifting loads and torques during operation.
The rotating mechanism allows the telescopic boom to rotate on the horizontal plane, thereby expanding the working range. Hydraulic motors or electric motors provide rotational power, and precise angle control is achieved through the control system, facilitating efficient cargo lifting and placement.
