5 ton free standing overhead crane systems were selected for this project in Spain because the customer’s existing workshop had no load-bearing columns or corbels suitable for supporting the crane runway beams. MOTCRANE supplied two FEM-standard European-style single-girder overhead cranes together with an independent support structure, allowing the cranes to operate without relying on the existing building structure.
The columns and runway beams were arranged according to the workshop layout so that the two cranes could cover as much of the working area as possible.
The customer planned to install two 5-ton FEM-standard European-style single-girder overhead cranes in an existing workshop in Spain for daily lifting and material handling.
However, the building did not have suitable load-bearing columns or corbels for supporting the crane runway beams, which meant that the crane runway system could not be installed directly on the existing building structure.
At the same time, the customer wanted the two cranes to cover as much of the workshop as possible rather than being limited to specific lifting areas. Therefore, in addition to the cranes themselves, an independent support structure was required to support the runway beams, rails, and crane travel system.
To address the lack of suitable load-bearing columns in the customer’s workshop, MOTCRANE designed a 自立型オーバーヘッドクレーン system based on the customer’s workshop drawings. Independent support structures were provided for the two 5-ton European-style single-girder overhead cranes.
について 5 ton free standing overhead crane system was designed according to the actual workshop dimensions and available installation space. The structure consists of independent steel columns and crane runway beams, allowing the crane system to operate without relying on the existing building structure.
During the design process, the positions of the columns and runway beams were arranged to provide the largest practical crane coverage within the workshop while meeting the operating requirements of both 5-ton cranes.
Both cranes use a European-style single-girder design based on FEM standards. The low-headroom configuration provides a compact overall structure and helps maximize the available lifting height, making it suitable for workshops where installation space and crane coverage are important considerations.

Conventional 天井クレーン normally rely on the building structure to support the crane runway beams and rails. When an existing workshop does not have suitable load-bearing columns or corbels, or when the original building structure cannot safely support the crane loads, a free-standing support structure can be installed inside the workshop.
This independent system uses its own columns and runway beams, so the crane does not rely on the existing building structure. The runway layout can also be designed according to the actual workshop dimensions and required lifting coverage. This makes free-standing overhead cranes particularly suitable for existing workshop upgrades, retrofit projects, and facilities where a larger lifting coverage area is required.
If your existing workshop does not have suitable load-bearing columns for an overhead crane, please provide the workshop length, width, and height, together with the required lifting capacity, lifting height, span, and desired coverage area. MOTCRANE can design a free-standing overhead crane system and independent support structure based on the existing workshop layout. Request an overhead crane quotation for your project.
